He has basically fallen obsessively in love with her. She sees a table with food and wine on it. Before she has time to react, the patient grabs her and chloroforms her. Good heavy breathing as she passes out. In the next scene she wakes up bound and cleave gagged on the couch. It's a long scene and I've shortened it.
